Come into my enchanting little cottage. The lights are on, there's hot chocolate in the mugs and a little fire in the fireplace. We're just waiting for you.
And speaking of enchanting, this is one of the little fawns that I posted in the fall. I took this shot yesterday. he has his winter coat grown out and he's very interested in Rascal. I don't know if he think's that Rascal's another fawn or an enemy but he's very curious.
Thank you for your kind and loving comments about my post about Cathy. Bloggers are the best friends ever! Diane

An Invitation
So we're sitting in my little cottage talking a mile a minute. You probably have a cup of tea or coffee if we weren't talking so fast I forgot to offer you something. Rascal is probably with us adding his two bits. It's a sweet view to look out into the lawn and flowers. Please join me in these last few precious days before it turns cold. Diane

A Welcoming Place
Still ice in the yard, old winter grass, much to be done. But the little cottage waits for a welcome respite, a quiet talk with friends, for the windows to be opened and for it to be a happy place all summer. Sometimes I invite my husband to come in and sit for a while. He had to go through "You need a clock in here" "no, I don't". "you need a TV in here." "NO I don't." "Maybe a radio." "No I don't." Now I think he appreciates the quiet peace too - sometimes. Diane
Thanks so much for your comments and helpful ideas as to my dilemma on Blogger. It's so nice to know that I can ask for help and everybody responds. One of the reasons we love blogging.

Remember?
A while back I told you that I had a surprise. Well this is it - a new paint job for the cottage. I'm still debating as to whether I should repaint the little window trim white or leave it like it is. Since I'm not fond of painting (especially trim) I've almost talked myself into leaving it like it is. My husband insisted we paint it this year because he says it will last longer. To make the job easier I chose a lovely color called French Castle. I think the flowers will stand out better against the lighter color, too. Hope you've had a good day. Diane

Cleaning and Thinking
Anniversary roses hang in the little rafters, sunflowers dry in a bucket, burnt orange colored roses dry on the floor and the place needs cleaned. This is one of my "chores" in the autumn, to clean my little cottage. Not only do I clean the windows, vacuum, dust and probably move everything in the place, but I sort out the things that I want to pass on to someone else. Anymore, there isn't a lot that I get rid of.
I wish you could join me there. We would talk for hours - maybe days.
Little children sometimes seem kind of in awe of an old lady who plays in a dollhouse. To some children it doesn't seem to make much difference, they just take it in stride. Others wish they could have a playhouse like Diane. It's so nice to have the extra dimension to my life that I have with the cottage. Diane

Surprise Coming Up
The summer days are winding down for the cottage, too. At Leonard's insistence we got the outside of the cottage repainted. I'm saving it till I get everything done to show you the new look. The inside needs a good vacuuming and dinging out. I love to have it clean and waiting for me in the spring (except for a few dead flies). Maybe next year we'll get the inside painted. It just doesn't seem that important to me. I'd rather just enjoy it. Hope you're having a good weekend. Diane

A Little Tweaking
Summer's taking over the cottage. All of a sudden there are flowers everywhere. I've planted heliotrope by the door and pansies and whenever you walk in or out the smell is heavenly. In this picture the wire is rather unattractive but to me it isn't. It's electricity which Leonard hooked up for me. I can have lamps and on chilly days it makes a warm (fake) fire in my fireplace. So I love it. He's been after me to repaint the cottage (so it will last longer) - I know he'd love to, I might just have him do it. I'm thinking of a different color anyway, and different gingerbread. I think my little cottage just loves to be tweaked.

Bliss
We had a few days of lovely 60degree weather. I wandered out to the cottage and just enjoyed it. When the ice and snow and wet ground finally dry up I'll move a lot of the little things out and clean it up for summer. I'll look at the walls and wish that I'd listened to my husband when he wanted to insulate it before I moved in. I'll probably wonder if I should paint it inside so everything is the same color. But right now a storm is going to hit and I'll just enjoy being there. Diane

Looking for Some Beauty

The land outside right now is dull and drab colors and I think I'll head back to the cottage for a bit.
Come sit by the fire with me, it's not a real fireplace but it does heat so it will be nice and cozy.
The slightly frazzled reindeer meets us at the door with his leftover Christmas bow. The red brightens things up.
Grab a book if you want, all my favorites are out here, as well as pretty magazines to while away the time.
I wish you could really join me in the cottage. How fun would that be!!! Diane

Come Into My Cottage

It got pretty warm today so I dug a path to my little cottage. I think it was happy to have me dig it out of the snow. It was looking pretty forlorn out there all by itself in the snow.
Why don't we go on in and turn the fireplace on and sit a spell. Would you like a cup of hot chocolate or some herb tea?
Gosh, it's nice to have you come to visit.
I can't think of anything nicer today.
Oh, too bad you have to leave so soon. Come back as soon as you can. God bless you, Diane
P. S. We saw some birds today, we've been very worried about them making it through that awful wind and storm 2 weeks ago.
