Oops!!!!

A couple weeks ago I cut my sunflowers.  It took me quite a while.  I cut them, leaving a short stem on each and pulled the heavy stems up and drug to the alley to take to the recycling green bins.  Now what to do with them.  If I hang them in the chicken house mice would have a nice fat winter.  If I put them in my cottage they'll make a mess.  What to do, what to do.  I came in and got on the computer.  I typed in....how to store sunflowers to use as bird seed.........The answer....Leave them on the stems where they grew!!! Hmmmm.  Maybe next year.  In the meantime I have giant sunflower heads I still don't know what to do with.     Diane

Sunflower

This sunflower broke off and I put it in a vase.  It completely recovered except today I noticed these bright little sparkles on the face of it.  Is it nectar or tears?                            Diane

Happy!

Yesterday after we dropped down out of the mountains into the Bighorn Basin we drove through a lot of farm land including these happy ones.  Several places had fields and fields of sunflowers.  How could you not be happy around something like this?  I noticed that there were a few places advertising honey, too.  Can you imagine how much fun the bees would have here?                Diane
