Oh, what a handsome bird I am - oh, yes, a fine figure of a bird!
This wild turkey has taken to admiring himself in the chrome on a neighbor's pickup. It's so comical to watch him. I believe he thinks it's another turkey and he has to show off. It was funny, too, that the other turkeys he was with weren't paying much attention to him.

Still The Mother
Walking today I ran across mother wild turkey and her family. I know that it's them and not another flock of turkeys because they all stay very close together and she still tells them where to go. And I counted, there are still 8 younger ones. She still hovers over them very protectively. It was June when I saw the tiny little chicks and she still has them together, amazing to me.

Mama and Babies
Mama and Babies
I took this video this afternoon. I'm sorry I'm talking into the mike and that I'm not good at cutting these off. But I think it's worth it anyway. I had met a girl who lives nearby and we were both so excited about this mama wild turkey and her little "turklets". Diane
P.S. After I got this posted I was disappointed to find that it could not be enlarged so you can't really see the little ones. I'm sorry. If you watch the grass in front of her you can see them bobbing along in the grass.

A New and Exciting Creature
I took this picture of the wild turkeys in our neighborhood during the bad cold spell we just had. They were just trying to keep cold like all the other creatures and they look like.........well, wild turkeys. But today as we walked I glanced down the alley behind our houses and there strutting around was a beautiful new creature, no two of them, no three!!
I snapped pictures from every angle but they just wouldn't get away from these garbage cans.Diane
