Thought I'd show you the other journal from yesterday after I got it finished today.  It didn't look too promising in it's raw state but went together pretty good.     Diane            

Making Journals

Some time ago I won a sweet journal from
Deena at Nestled in the Singing Woods. It had been made out of a composition book.  You know, the kind with the black and white speckles and they usually cost a $1.00 or so.  After I had used that one up I made several others based on that idea.  Today I finished this one, different than the rest because it's painted instead of covered with paper.

After I got this one finished I started another one, a little softer colors.....

.........but it will be pretty, too.  These are so much fun I'm thinking of going into production, maybe set up a table at a Christmas bazaar.............mmmmmm, that sounds like a lot of work!   It's fun when you don't feel pressured!                            Diane

Art Journal

Just thought I'd show you some of the journal pages I've been working on lately.
Between receiving my new copy of Somerset Studio's Journaling magazine and finding some fabulous
new papers, I haven't been able to stay out of my studio on these hot days.

This journal is inspired by a project by Ingrid Djkers that she calls
over the edge.  The idea is to have different kinds of edges to your papers
instead of exactly the same.  I had to give it my own
slant but it sure is fun.

Catching the Days

I look so forward to journaling each day.

This is a couple pictures of a few that I've covered with various kinds of papers. They're just the basic black and white notebooks that you can pick up most anywhere for less than $2.00. Then I cover them and decorate the pages as I go along.

Besides journaling I do mixed media art and keep those in stacks of books. Between all of the stacks they're very heavy and cumbersome. They've taken on a life of their own....What will happen to my journals when I'm gone.....who will take care of them.....and "I hope it will be good reading and not the ramblings of a crazy lady". They do have a practical purpose too...now and then they settle an argument as to when something happened and it sure feels wonderful to be right once in a while.

A Joy in the Mail

Today I received this beautiful Autumn Journal from Deena deenasstory.blogspot.com/. It's so pretty and on the back page is an excerpt from The Raven and a picture of Edgar Allen Poe with a little hat on and a little marker with my name on it. Very special. And to have received it on Deena's special Pink Warrior Day makes it even better. Thank you Deena. It's a treasure.
