A Little Bit O' The Irish
I love St. Patrick's Day, don't you? Not because of the way they celebrate these days but the memories and the Irish pride that was instilled in us as children. Grandpa had a tiny little green ribbon that he wore on the lapel of his shirt on that day. Just a tiny green ribbon, but he might as well have been waving a huge green sign that said Erin Go Bragh! And the little radio station in our town played Irish music all day long. From the Irish jigs and reels and toe tapping music to the sad and melancholy, we loved it all. It always be Erin go Bragh - Ireland Forever! Diane

Yes, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day too, and we had corned beef and cabbage tonight (Friday) to celebrate early. We made it in a crock pot and one of our sons came over to share the delicious meal.
When the children were at home we always did something special on March 17th and I always decorated the table. This year I'll be on the ferry, heading out to work on the mainland - maybe I can figure something out for tonight!
Love that pic of your Grandpa. I am getting ready to go to our parade downtown. Love it! I am Irish too and have my scarf and green earrings all ready. Happy St. Pattys Day! Kit
What a great story Diane. I am so thankful that I got to take that trip to Ireland with my mom. We'll have memories to last a lifetime. :c)
Happy St Patrick's day Diane- we're finally though the flu ( fingers crossed ) and getting back on our feet again- perhaps we all need a pint of Guiness? Jane xx
I just love your post! Yes, WERE raised to appreciate our Irish heritage and I believe Mother worked hard on making that happen, too. Remember when whe would send us green flowers for St. Patrick's Day? I remembered to wear my shamrock earrings and fixed corned beef and cabbage-yummy! I shared it with our Irish neighbors.
Love,
Patsy
A friend at work has dreamed of going to Ireland so she and her husband and daughter will be spending a month there this summer. :) Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week. Tammy
