For a long time I've been trying to identify a singer in the lilacs and shrubs around the neighborhood. Unlike most bird songs this one is full of different kinds of notes and noises which seem to go on and on. I also heard one that sounded a lot like a cat mewing. Today I got a shot of him and in the process I found out my erratic singer too - a cat bird. Maybe you already know about them. The Cornell all about birds is a great help in identifying birds if you're a late starter like I am. Diane

These birds can be hard to identify, especially just going on the song. They are quite the mimics. Glad you were able to capture this image and solve the problem of who it was.
I just looked them up and read that they do mimic the sounds of other species and then string them together to make their own. very interesting. Especially that you can hear them mewing, too. Wonder if they every go moo, or baaaahhhh. :) Best wishes, Tammy
I wonder if I have them up here? I don't believe I have ever seen one. Kit
