Watchful Eye
We have a baby dove - somewhere around here, hidden, I hope. I saw it this afternoon, it couldn't fly well and ended up in the middle of the street. I knew the school bus would be coming around the corner any minute, I saw mom(or dad) on our fence, and mom(or dad) in the tree across the street keeping a watchful eye on the baby. So I walked out into the street to shush it out of harms way. It flew but couldn't land very well and did several somersaults on the sidewalk across the street. I felt good about getting it out of the street but awful about causing it to have such a terrible landing. Life must be so hard for the birds, such a worry. But I'm sure they do a lot better than I can. Diane

It is amazing that the little ones do survive out in the wild with the fact that their habitats are constantly being taking away from them or invaded.
I am still trying to catch up after the sand storm on Wednesday. You can't imagine how much dust is in my house. I cleaned yesterday for 6 hours and barely made a dent. Sadly, another dust storm could be just around the corner. It's a losing battle.
Hope you are having a good weekend. Tammy
I am sure that if birds could talk the parents would have said Thank-you.
It would be tough....I love watching how protective the moose are with their babies and these little guys only get a year with Momma....couple more months and we will be seeing them wobble legged walking around! We are having such a lovely Spring this is the nicest one I have seen 19 years! 40's and beautiful.
I just wish the Man with the lodge would hurry I'm on pins and needles! Have a good weekend I have soccer games with the kids and Easter play and games for the kids at church today, so should be a busy one!
You are a good person. Not too many people would even care let alone help. Sad. Your dove is like me and the earth worms in the street. They feel very squishy on the fingers....LOL Kit
That is quite the adventure, Diane. You are clever enough not to pick up the bird. Probably not everybody is that smart. You really kept your wits about you. I am wondering what happened to the sweet little thing. Do you know where it went from there?
It's so much fun to read about. Thank you for sharing.
OH--hope the baby Dove makes it... That was nice that you got it out of the street.
I've been watching the nesting Eagles in Iowa. I worry so much about them falling out of the nest. Their nest is 80 feet high... Yipes.
Hugs,
Betsy
sweet mom! I know where I get my protective senses from! I don't know how parents do it in nature. It seems like the whole world is out to get your baby. xobean
