The Doves

I heard the doves today.  I know they've been here through the winter but this is the first time I've heard them.  I heard some other birds today, too.  I don't know if it's the warmer weather (it's supposed to get very cold again in the next few days) or the calendar.                         Diane

They are so pretty. I haven't seen ours yet this year. I did hear our Mockingbird a couple of nights ago though. They'll sing anytime...this was around midnight. I was glad to hear him/her again. They always nest in the tree in front.

I'm guessing they really don't know where they are supposed to be since the weather has been a bit crazy all over the United States. It's amazing to me they can survive such freezing temps. Have a great weekend! Tammy

I have never seen one, wow!!!
Yesterday I had such a scare I almost hit an eagle going for road kill and he was trying to correct his landing......scary they are huge when they are 2 feet in front of you!!!

All these pics make me feel chilled and it's into the mid 60's here today! brrrrr

Congrats on the Etsy shop! It's always brave to step out of our box. I've been trying to do that lately myself, but often need a shove from my kids or a friend.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I have a couple of mourning doves that hang out in my backyard. They eat the seed that falls from the feeder when the other birds drop it.

Occasionally I'll see them at the feeders, but haven't heard them yet. In spring and summer they perch on our roof, and call back and forth to others in the trees. I love the sound, and can't wait for it again. Lucky you Diane!
