This past summer I've been watching the bears on the bear cam at Katmai Falls as they stuffed themselves with salmon. They will need this for their winter hibernation. I loved watching them, especially the little cubs and the mother bears who had their paws full feeding them, keeping a watchful eye and fighting off other bears that got too close.
We all loved Otis, a 26 year old bear and felt sad to see him leave.
The salmon run is over now and they're going off to make their dens and I can't help but feel sad somehow. I hope the winter and man is good to them.
The winter is going to be long until next summer when the salmon start again. Blessings, Diane
