Sandhill Cranes..................

We spotted these Sandhill Cranes outside of town this last weekend. They were in a stubble field and almost blended in with the background.

We've seen them occasionally around here but it is exciting. I think they're migrating through. I can only imagine how amazing it would be to see masses of them like in Nebraska.

purplehaze said...: Diane, there is a fabulous article in this month's Smithsonian magazine on sandhill cranes. You can just google Smithsonian sandhill cranes and it will come up. The pictures in this article are astounding as are your pictures of the ones you saw in the field.
