More Alaska

A boat ride from Homer across the bay to Halibut Cove.  A new experience for me.  Exciting!

On the way to Halibut Cove we circled around Gull Island which is a rookery where 8 different bird species live, the Common Murre, Black-legged Kittiwake, Glaucous-winged Gull, Pelagic Cormorants, Red Faced Cormorants, Pigeon Gillemonts, Horned Puffins
and Tufted Puffins shown here along with the Gulls.
Later we arrived at Halibut cove, a lovely place with colorful and beautiful houses, shops, art galleries and there we had an amazing lunch.  It was the first time ever that I ate raw oysters - only two but I did!  Afterwards we returned to Homer Spit and spent some time there.  I'd been there once before and I love that place - especially the beach.  Fantastic day!       Thank you so much Bean and Gregg.

You must have had such fun!
I've never been to Alaska, but the place that you've shown certainly looks a lot like Vancouver Island.
