Not A Good Day to Do Laundry

This is an image I captured of my neighbor's clothesline.  I don't even have one anymore.  I miss my clothesline but I'm glad I can borrow hers when I want to hang a quilt or air something out.

Sometimes I forget donning my overshoes to carry half frozen clothes out to the line to hang up baby diapers and shirts with frozen fingers.  And I forget taking things down when they're frozen solid and bringing them in the house and having them thaw dry.   I just take for granted how nice it is to have a washer and dryer.  Sometimes I have to see Ana's clothesline to remind me of these things.

Oh, the good old days.Or were they really that good?I remember all the work it was to do the laundry, and I wouldn't trade for the way I do it now.

Yes, there are times it would be handy to have one...but I'm so glad it isn't the only option like when I was a kid!!

Hi Diane, Yes, these days we are lucky to have so many modern ways of doing things that our parents and the ones before us did not have. My Mom used an outside line most of the year, but she did have lines in our basement... So --that helped on cold days.

Hugs,
Betsy

I love a clothes line in the warm weather for hanging out the bedding. The smell can't be beat. Other than that, thank God for the dryer Diane!

It brings back memories. I enjoyed hanging clothes..loved the freshness that stayed on the clothes. It was nice...except for diapers. There were too many of those to make it nice.

I remember seeing "frozen" things on my grandmother's line. I also remember her old "ringer washer" in the basement where we'd wash before hanging clothes on the line. Man, but we're soft now. Can you even imagine?

Hi Diane, Do you follow Greenpaper.typepad.com ? She is doing a class on gluebooks or journels featuring four artists with different styles. I don't think you need any classes...your style is wonderful, but I thought you might be interested in looking at the artists' work. She also has free vintage graphics from time to time.

Such a beautiful capture of the frozen line Diane.
I want a clothesline sooo bad! Dale is being stubborn about this. He doesn't want to have to mow around the posts....What! I do the mowing anyway!
Hugs from here...

As an oldest daughter, I remember all those laundry challenges too. The dryer has to be one of my favorite appliances!
