Every time I peel potatoes I think of Cy. I peeled some for supper tonight and wondered what life might have been.
Cy was my first love. I was around 10 and he was 11. I adored him, I looked forward to times when our parents would get together so I could see him and he would show me his rock collection and pocket knives. I had such a crush on him and just like other girls I hoped he felt that way too. He, being a boy, probably didn't. But maybe the thought did cross his mind a time or two because one day while he was visiting our house I was peeling potatoes. That's one thing I'm kind of sloppy about, I peel them way too thick and hardly ever take the time to peel them right. After he watched for a little while he said "I'd never marry you, Diane. You peel the potatoes way too thick!" Shortly after that we both went our separate ways and neither looked back. But I can't help wondering how it would have been if I peeled the potatoes nicer. I'm sure he would have been much too picky about everything, don't you? You're better off without him!!
He would have been much too picky about everything. You are better off without him I'm sure?
Too cute Diane! But then you wouldn't have Len! It all worked out for the best, and I bet Len doesn't care about your thick potatoes!
I bet things turned out just the way they should be.
Wonder if Cy married him an expert potato peeler? :c)
Diane are you using a potato peeler or a knife...haha!
Hi Diane, I'm trying to catch up with blogs... Big JOB... ha.. But--I enjoyed reading yours.
Love seeing your pretty rose... Our roses are doing fine now also --since it's cooler here.
Didn't see Jupiter ---but I'll bet my son (who loves astronomy) had his telescope out...
Love the high-rise post... Cute!!!!
Interesting post about the potatoes... Isn't it amazing how certainly little things can remind us of things from our past. Wonder what happened to Cy????
Have a great week, my friend.
Hugs,
Betsy
This is a really cute story. I can't peel potatoes either, unless I use one of those peeler gadgets. If I use a knife, forget it. Out of curiosity, have you ever tried searching for Cy on Facebook????

Diane, you are so sweet, that is why Len married you not your potato peeling skills, or should we ask him!!!
Good thing the Dutchman didn't find out mine skills right away!!! How sweet it is though to think of that first love....cute!

Wow - that was a close call! Imagine being married to a man who thought he should monitor how thick one peeled potatoes?!
How cute!
...Seems God spared you a life time of senseless nit picking!...great blog!
