Sometime ago I posted about our old neighbor, Ben. When he was still alive he told me this rose of his is an
Apothocary Rose, he said "See that shoot there, I want you to have that." Then it was fall and then winter and then some new people bought the house. It took me a while to get to know them before I could ask them if I could have the shoot. I don't think they're into flowers but said sure, go ahead and dig it up whenever you want.
This evening I went down and got it and it's firmly planted in my yard finally. If it can just get a good start I know it will grow for me, I have Ben's blessing. Diane

Apothocary Rose a R.
gallica officinalis, the parent species of the
gallicas. It's origin is at least medieval prior to 1500 and perhaps more ancient.
I'm glad you got that shoot before it was taken down.Looks like a gorgeous flower.

Hi Diane, I wanted to thank you for your last comments over on mudderbear. You are so sweet. My birthday was yesterday, the 23rd. I turned 62 and that makes me eligible for Social Security checks, which just blows my mind. I have never sat around planning on what to do with those. My husband, Steve's, birthday is in January and his birthdays hit me harder than my own. Funny, huh? But I love the more relaxed life with time to enjoy so much.
