Shades of Third Grade.....................

As I went to throw a sweet potato in the compost, remembering making sweet potato plants in school, I cut the end off and put it in water.  What the heck! I thought, I need some green this winter.  It has rewarded me with long shoots and now I think I'll put it in a hanging planter in the skylight and see what happens.

Unfortunately my memory can't call up what happened to my third grade plant.  Maybe it died from neglect, maybe Mother got tired of watering it,  Right now I have a bright spot of green and the rewarding feeling that something will grow for me.

About this time of winter any bit of green is a most welcome sight. That was a great idea.

I remember growing those too. What ever comes of it at least you have some green during the winter months.

I think you're on to something here Diane :) Needing some green her too. I am wintering over some geraniums in the studio though and they are even rewarding me with beautiful red blooms right now. I keep the studio kind of warm but not too warm for them to be a little dormant for the short days. When I go out their to sew or craft I turn up the heat but keep it turned down when I'm not out there.
I don't do the drive to Twin Falls when the roads are bad, although I did get caught in a bad storm last winter and it was scary. I keep a close eye on the forecast and plan my four trips a month carefully. This winter we haven't had much winter to speak of so it hasn't been a problem. I hope we get some weather soon.

I swear I have black thumbs when I want green ones. Maybe this will work for me. Lord knows we need some green.
