Serious cook?

Today when I was at the cooking store I heard them mention  a "serious cook".  I haven't been in the sticks so long that I don't know what the term means today.  It means basically somebody that has a lot of money to hang expensive pots in his/her kitchen.

But it got me to thinking about that phrase.

I think a serious cook is a cook who has to take into mind what's on sale, the budget, diets, what she needs to stock up on, expiration dates, the menu and where the product is from.  And then is able to pull off a meal in record time and have everything ready at the same time - three times a day!!  And a happy serious cook is someone, like my sister, who just loves to cook, think about food and search for wonderful food.  There are "serious cooks" and then there are serious cooks.            Diane
P.S. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, I just thought this would make a cute post.  Hope you get it that way, too.

You nailed it. Sometimes I'm a serious cook and sometimes I'm an indifferent cook, but at the end of every day, I have been the cook!

I would have to say I'm a happy serious cook. When I cook! Kind of an oxymoron! When I'm in the spirit, there is no stopping me. I've pinned so many different meals on Pinterest, have bought the ingredients, now it's time to get happy cooking!

Clever! I have to say, I am not a serious cook. Oh I take that back, at work I am. But at home forget it! Give me take-out anyday. LOL Kit

Diane, I don't think you could hurt anyone's feelings. I'm a serious cook, too -- serious about cooking meals that are quick, easy and healthy with the fewest ingredients possible. :) Best wishes to you, Tammy
