And then the lights went out................

There's nothing like a power failure to make me ponder my dependence on electricity.  Last night, as I sat here editing pictures, and just as I hit save.................everything went dark.  The first thing I thought was did I do that?  Then complete, I mean complete darkness.  Even the sound was dark, there was none, complete silence.  After 1 1/2 hours it came back on but I did a lot of thinking in the meantime.  Two things I mainly thought about - we almost could not survive without electricity and what must it have been like to live before.  I can't imagine either one.  Diane

I know for sure that I would not want to be without all the conveniences we have. I guess when the power goes out we realize just how much we depend on this. Have a wonderful weekend.

When we had the huge statewide power outage a few years back, I remember feeling helpless for the first couple hours. At first, everyone thought we were under another terrorist attack and I can't explain the fear. When we found out it was the grid, we were relieved, but scrambling to get the generator set up and working left us feeling so helpless without electricity. I can't imagine living in a time without it.

Always a good thing to have candles and matches ready. :) Glad you weren't without electricity for too long. We definitely could not survive over here with the heat -- though there are plenty of people who do live and survive in the desert. I just can't imagine it. Best wishes to you, Tammy
