Only One Like Her

Pondside inspired me to go up to an old cemetery at the top of a hill here today.  Last I knew it was not maintained but today I was pleasantly surprised to see that it looks great, green manicured lawn and healthy looking trees.  I did find out that it probably goes back to the early 1900's or before.  There aren't many graves but I was thrilled to find the grave of a lady who I was fortunate enough to know.

In the 60's I worked for a veterinarian and Elsa was a client.  I loved to see
her come in the door, colorful, beautiful, brightly flowered dress with a big bright
brooch holding the top button shut, some of her slip hanging out from under her dress
bright red curly hair, with a big fluffy cat under each arm.
And that's just a description of her  - her life was even more
incredibly interesting.
Seeing her gravestone brought back all the warm feelings of this colorful and
beautiful lady.
So, thanks, Pondside.  Sometimes one thing leads to another and
wonderful things happen.     Diane

How neat Diane.... I'm glad they cleaned up the cemetery --and that the picture of that lady (whom you knew) was visible for you to see. That is special... I'm sure that knowing her brought back lots of great memories for you.

Hugs,
Betsy

Is this new to put a picture on the headstones I don't ever remember seeing this before!
She looked like a kind woman.

That was so interesting, Diane! I went to the link and read about her life and looked at some of her photos - what a woman! Thanks for sharing this bit of the history of your area.

I love old village Churches and their graveyards and often wonder about the stories of the lives of people on the old, old gravestones. How nice to actually have known such a unique lady and to have found her grave.

How wonderful Diane that you were reminded of this vibrant woman. Sounds like from the article that she certainly lived a wonderfully exciting life. No wonder she lived to be 95 -- doing what she loved for all those years. Wishing you all the best, Tammy
