What's In a Name?

Why did my parents pick Diane for my name?  I don't know.  I know why I have my middle name but not my first name.  There was only one other Diane in my small school so I don't think it was a name that was all the rage.  I like my name - it means divine. Wow!  I just learned that.  Hmmm it gives me something to aspire to.  It's French and I like that.  If anyone is going to call me the wrong name they call me Nancy (????) except for one lady who calls me Phyllis.

I told my mother about people wanting to call me Nancy and she said "That's funny, we almost named you that."

What about your name?  Do you like it?  Why did your parents choose it?

Thanks to mudderbear for the idea for this post today.               Diane or Divine, whichever you prefer

Dear Ms. Divine...no, I prefer Diane. My name means heavenly messenger, an angel. My mom and dad saw a movie with Angela Lansbury in it and liked the name. I'm very grateful because my daddy's first choice was Drusilla! I can't imagine what that means!

Well Divine, I love my name and wouldn't even think of changing it. It suits me. If someone EVER calls me another name it's Amber. And, no offense to Amber's out there . . . but I really don't think I look like an Amber. Oh well. How about the game "Soap Opera Name". Where you take your middle name and the street you were raised on. . . . My soap opera name is Anne Park. Always liked that.
Also, your stripper name: Your first pet's name and your maiden name. My stripper name is Coffee Sullivan. Cute huh?

Anyway, names are so important. That's for sure.
Love you, Bean

Dear Divine Diane, This is so much fun. Your name is quite wonderful, classic, regal and divine. Do you have any idea why someone calls you Nancy? or Phyllis? Guess some people just get a predetermined name in their head. I love your photo...you are so adorable. What a cutie.

And thank you for mentioning me. You are so sweet. I'm loving this.

When I was a child I disliked my name. I wished to be called Debbie or Judy or anything but the name that came down to me from my grandmother. As an adult I grew into my name and came to like it. It's a family name and I passed it on to my daughter as her second name.

I really have never liked my name...isn't that awful??? I always wished that I could have been Patricia like my younger sister. But June I am. The funny thing is that my sister lives here in the same town I do and so I get called by her name all the time, so in a way, I got my wish! The thing I'm wondering is do they call her June? I think I will have to ask her that.
You were one cute girl!!!

My mother liked the name Laurie, and my middle name, Lee, is after her father. I used to hate my name when I was young, when I found out a Lorry was a truck. But I kinda like it now! I've always liked the name Diane though, should I refer to you as Miss Divine?
