Still The Mother

Walking today I ran across mother wild turkey and her family.  I know that it's them and not another flock of turkeys because they all stay very close together and she still tells them where to go.  And I counted, there are still 8 younger ones.  She still hovers over them  very protectively.  It was June when I saw the tiny little chicks and she still has them together, amazing to me.

She's taken very good care of them...think she knows it's only about a month till "turkey day"?

The instinct is strong, and somehow she knows just how long to be in charge and on the lookout for the little ones - even if they are as big as she!

Isn't that just like a mother?

What a good Mommy indeed. that's amazing that she has not lost one.
they can be quite mean when pushed or threatened so I've been told thank God I've never had to tangle with one!
