Remember Pinafores?

Pinafores remind me of sweet times in my life as a child.  By pinafores I mean the little ruffles on the shoulders and bare arms and sweet skirt with ruffles.  Mother would bathe Jennie and I late in the afternoon to have us and herself all "prettied up" for my Dad when he came home from work. In summertime we wore pinafores with the flirty ruffles that made your arms feel fresh and cool.  Hair pulled back in braids, white sandals.  I doubt it we stayed like that but in the picture in my mind we did.  Whenever I see a pinafore it takes me back to that time when I felt like such a lady or fairy or Cinderella or maybe all of them rolled into one.                         Diane

Oh yes, I remember pinafores... My mother made them for me also. I remember one of mine being almost like a jumper with straps that criss-crossed in the back. I would wear a blouse/shirt under the pinafore.... I used to have a picture of me in a pinafore... I'll look for it....

Neat post.... Brought back memories... Bet you and your sister were adorable...
Hugs,
Betsy

What a sweet post remember the salt water sandals...thats what I remember about summer. We have had the coldest wet summer so it's so nice to enjoy summer stories through you!

Not only do I remember, but to this day, my sister and I can sing the song "Once there lived side by side, two little maids. Used to dress just alike, hair down in braids. Blue gingham pinafores, stockings of red....." etc Do you know the song. We end up doing it as our contribution to every family song fest night - even though we're getting a little too old for it!

I wore quite a few of those as my mother made all of my clothes when I was a child. I think I was much better dressed then than now!

There's simply nothing cuter than seeing a little girl all dressed up in one. :c)

So sweet! My grandmother made my sister and I many beautiful pinafores. I mostly ran around in blue jeans or shorts and little tops in the summertime, but when we dressed up, we felt so special!

Hi Diane,
I know...you probably don't remember me, but I am your Idaho friend. hehe
I dressed my girls like this when they were small to. It is such a sweet look.
I missed so many great posts here. I LOVED the one with your husband working on the garage.
Rascal in the snow made me smile.
Hey it was 49 degrees here this morning!
hugs

I loved my pinafores! I still remember how comfortable they were. I wouldn't mind one in this heat we've been having, though I'm a little old for one now! Thanks for the memory Diane!
