Homer Spit

One of the places we went when I was in Alaska last summer was a place that people fall in love with - Homer Spit. Here is a view of the beach and the beautiful water and mountains surrounding it.
Here it is as Gregg and I were flying towards it over Kachemak Bay.  Behind it on the hillside is Homer, Alaska.  The Spit juts out into the water with a 5 mile long highway that runs the entire length of it.  A colorful marina is in the foreground, a beautiful beach runs the length of it and cute little eccentric shops and eating places as well as places to lodge are almost at the end.  People are there with motor homes, tents, campers soaking up the enchanting spell of the place.  The names of the shops alone are worth the trip, The Spit Sisters, The Better Sweater, The Red Dog Saloon to name a few.  I fell in love with it, too.

That is one place I definitely want to see when we go to Alaska. I've seen pictures of Homer Spit --and yours are fabulous... My son (when he worked in Alaska) went to Homer Spit one time and caught a boat over to the mountains and did some overnight hiking.... He loved it there.

Wonderful pictures, Diane. Thanks!
Hugs,
Betsy

Two of my favorites are White Earth Tile and The Better Sweater.
I can't tell you how many of those sweaters My Mom and I had, I sold quite a few in my garage sale!!
I love all those little Homer shops Greg gave you the star studded tour. It's so pretty isn't it!

I just love your photos you took of Alaska, they all make me want to go there! Seeing as I can't do hot holidays anymore...maybe I should go there, although the names of the shops are calling me already!!!!
Thanks for sharing these, you really are a gifted photographer.
I am just getting up and around, slowly but I am getting there, too old for this kind of pain! Sure glad that I had good doctors!
