Phoenix

I don't know if you've been watching the webcam www.hornbyeagles.com.  The baby eagle hatched April 29 and I think I started watching it about a week later.  Now she's ready to fly.  I'm surprised at my feelings.  Sadness, melancholy, hope, thrill.  She sits on the edge of the nest for long periods of time contemplating the unknown, maybe trying to work up the nerve to fly.  The 75 days I've checked in on her are about to come to an end.  But what an education!  Each thing that mother and daddy eagle have done has been with a purpose for the growth of the little eaglet, who's been named Phoenix.  So many things they have taught me.          Diane

It will be sad when Phoenix fledges!!! I always feels that way when my little Bluebirds fledge... We will miss watching the Eagles... They are such good parents... We humans could learn from them!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

It is fun to watch animals grow up via webcam, but as you said, it is sad when they leave the nest!

It's interesting how invested we can get in watching one of these hatchlings get ready to fly... hope he does well.

My kids would have loved that, let me know for next year if you remeber. My Dad feed the Eagles in the winter scraps of leftover bait and salmon and on real cold days they sit there and watch the lodge till he comes out for seconds. They are so majestic. I wonder what the hornby eagles look like. I will have to google them. Have a great day!

Diane, i have just watched once, you reminded me to check again....somehow it it seems almost bittersweet.
My Dad used to track birds via the airplane to study their flying patterns...to bad he still didn't do that, it would be neat to follow Phoenix as she goes on her life's journey....

I think they probably brought out all your goodness and mothering. Sounds like it runs deep.
