petit pois

Like me, you may have childhood memories of being made to eat peas.  YUK!  I remember having to sit in my chair pushing those awful green things, which seemed to get bigger and bigger, around my plate for hours.  Worse than that they were sometimes mixed with dumplings.  Oh, terrible!

Things have changed though.    Most of us love peas now.

This year my pea plants are sturdy and beautiful.  I haven't been picking very many peas but the ones I do are delicious.  This is one picking, hardly a haul, but wonderful when creamed.  Now maybe I should make some dumplings.................   Diane

I was the same way about peas, creamed peas, pea soup, if it had anything to do with them I hated it. And I had to sit at the table til they were gone. Now though, I love peas. Especially fresh or frozen. But I have been known to eat them out of the can, and pea soup is my favorite! the only thing I'll never develop a taste for is liver!

Hi Diane, I had to laugh since my youngest son and I had a battle going ---when he was little!!!! I made him sit at the table for HOURS one night until he ate FIVE peas.... He wouldn't do it... He was gagging and gagging... I couldn't help but laugh now ---but it wasn't funny at the time. That kid wouldn't eat his veggies!!!!! ha ha ha

I love peas---especially fresh ones like you have.. YUM....
Hugs,
Betsy

I think as a child I didn't like them because my mom always bought canned peas and they smell funny!!

I prefer the sugar snap peas to shelled ones, but can't remember actually disliking them as a kid. Funny how we'll gladly eat things as an adult that was never on our radar as kids!
