Surreal

Today I had to go to the Social Security office. There is one office, then there's Suite B and then across the way is another office. I walked on in and then walked in the inner door only to be stopped by a security guard who said "Step back out and check in" gruffly. I went back out and there was a computer or something which asked me for the last 4 digits of my ss #. I lightly touched the four digits on the screen and a little receipt came up from another machine and I was #37 and had to wait my turn. There was one person inside a window, behind glass to wait on everyone. Luckily I didn't have to wait very long, but long enough to hear how curtly people were treated.

What was going on in the other two offices?

That was a very surreal, weird experience.

Most government offices tend to be like this sadly. It does make one wonder.

It's sad what has happened since 9/11. Everyone is suspect, and everyone is treated as such. I don't know what happened to human compassion and respect. Out the window I guess, with the terrorists.

It's the same up here. I think it's very sad when civil servants forget that their major job is to serve the public. They are the face of government and often they don't show a very nice face at all.

Yes---that's the way our GOVERNMENT runs EVERYTHING it seems. Wonder why there are people in this country who want MORE Government involvement?????? Shocks me!!!! I prefer LESS government involvement... They can't seem to run anything well... Oh Well!!!!

It's raining at the beach today--so this gives me an opportunity to catch up with some blogging, some reading and some SLEEPING.. ha ha (What a life!)

Hugs,
