The storm rolled along the mountains all afternoon. I could hear the sound of distant thunder. When it started getting darker and more ominous I put my garden tools away, closed up the cottage, went into the house and braced for the storm.
There was one giant crack of lightening somewhere near. Then about six raindrops fell. The smell of rain was intoxicating.
That was it! That was the storm. What a fizzle. Diane

Hi Diane, I tried to comment last nite but the connection wasn't allowing me to do so. I finally just gave up and went to bed. I must say, your daily life is certainly filled with so many interesting things when you are living in God's country. People talk about Kuwait and how hot and dusty it is and I tell them it is because we are closer to hell than any place on earth. HA! Seeing that little buffalo shortly after birth; the squirrel having a mighty fine time; all your beautiful bushes and blooms trees; and wonderful memories of your father and growing up in the mountains -- so very interesting and wonderful. Hope you have a great day. Blessings, Tammy
Well, it's nice to see them forming and then to watch them move away from where you are!
Stunning image of the clouds.I must say,I enjoy a good thunderstorm.
Blessings,Ruth
I love that you too find the smell of rain intoxicating. Can you smell the snow too? I can, but understand that not everyone does.
Gorgeous photo - I'm tempted to say 'awesome' sky!
Great picture! I remember living with and near my grandmother.. We would be outside working in the yard and playing. She would stop what she was doing and tell me to be still and smell the rain.. Sure enough I would smell that smell.. Pretty soon we would be on the porch watching God water the garden... Every time I smell rain now it reminds me of those days!
Great shot. I found you on Betsy's blog and thought I'd come over and check out your blog.

What a great picture Diane, I LOVE thunderstorms, and the smell afterwards is so intoxicating. Except when tornado warnings go along with it!
I missed you Momma!!!!
Fabulous photography...delightful posts. Re: the storm. I'm quite convinced Mother Nature enjoys faking us out sometimes.
Love you photo. My husband and I both love to watch thunderstorms roll in. It's so excited--just BEFORE the rain hits. Get yourself a drink, pull out a lawn chair and watch the sky! How heavenly!
