Signs of Spring

It's always good to see the Bighorns when we come home. The trip from Billings last Wednesday was long and the hills were covered with snow. Leonard took pictures from the car as I drove
There's a lot of snow between here and there.
I don't know about where you live but we have an unofficial spring sport here. It's ice chipping. The object is to get outside and get rid of the ice and snow buildup on the sidewalk and gutters as soon as you can when it starts to thaw.
If you happen to live facing the south you have quite an edge because the sun hits it earlier and longer. Our neighbors across the street are out chipping ice way a couple weeks before we are. The ice gets soft on nice days like today and you can crack it and pop it out so it will melt easier. Some people have it down to an art. It's like with each chunk of ice you pry up it's getting you that much closer to spring.
Oh, and I saw my first robin yesterday. Diane

I well remember chipping away at the ice - no one wanted ice damming and the subsequent flooding.
I'm glad that you're beginning to see signs of spring.

Beautiful pictures, Diane... Still looks cold there. I've never heard of ice chipping... I know what it is --but we've never had to do it here.

It is snowing hard today (our 3 big storm this winter--which is rare for our area)---so I don't see much evidence of spring YET... Darn!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Well, the forecast here is calling for temps in the low 60's this weekend. Today? It's 34 with 3" of wet, cold snow on the ground. Spring? What spring? ;c)
