Re-Creating a Photo

I hate to admit it but for all the years on the computer I didn't "get" the paint program. So I just didn't mess with it.
I decided to see what I could do with a vintage photo and thought it would be fun to show you the steps as I go along.
This is a picture of my mother and me probably in either 1942 or 43. Mother was 19 or 20.
My goal is to make it delicate and translucent and I think the coloring I've used for the trees, which is all I've done, is too gaudy but luckily I did figure out how to erase. I started with the easy things first.
Please feel free to offer your input - I think this will be kind of fun. Diane

Good for you Diane. It will be quite the transformation from B/W to a soft color.I like to take some of my photos (the ones I take now)and make them B/W but leave in a little bit of the color to make it pop out.
Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Love that picture, Diane---even as it is!!!! Be sure you save it to another name when you are changing it. That way you will always have your original IF you need to go back to it.

Good Luck --and have fun!!!! Your Mom was a pretty gal---just like her daughter.

I haven't tried this yet myself, but husband is quite good at it. You've got a great start, anxious to see your results!
