Tongue River

These are some birds we saw on our trip down Tongue River today. The dirt road meanders mostly along the river for almost 90 miles and we came out at Ashland, Montana.
Some signs, I didn't realize it till I put this on the computer at home that one of the ranches I was looking for is listed on one - Gillilands. Unfortunately it would have been 6 more miles up a dirt road and then 6 more back to where these signs were. I wanted to go there but not that bad - at least today.
I wondered why someone built this cairn or as we used to call it - sheepherder's monument - alongside the road. Apparently they had a lot of time on their hands. Flat tire or something.

The river as it meanders slowly through the rocky limestone cliffs and untamed countryside. It really is a beautiful river. We stopped to have some lunch and ate on the tailgate. At one point I said "Listen to that""What" my husband asked. This conversation occurs many times a day at our house. "To the quiet, not one sound at all". It was so nice. Hope you're having a good holiday weekend. Diane

Wow---what a beautiful ride you all took... I love out-of-the-way places like that also, where solitude is glorious!!!!!

When we hike WAY back in the mountains, I love being there when nobody else is nearby. I can sit and listen to the waterfalls and birds. Life is GOOD.

Hope you are having a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Now that looks so peaceful!
I am like that, I like quiet, Ted likes the TV or noise of any kind (mostly NASCAR) or building shows!!!
He'll come in and say, "why is the TV off?" Like it isn't right to have it off! He he, I always say the same thing, "do you hear that?" "it's peace and quiet"!!!!!
I am feeling much better!
I hope your weekend is going wonderfully!!!
Hugs,
