My Husband

I guess the reason I don't talk about Leonard a lot is that we are fighting an illness that has only one outcome.
He's funny, most of the time uses his sense of humor to diffuse an arguement, treats me like a queen and is just the dearest guy in the world. This same guy who was raised in the country and hates tumbleweeds because they cause trouble with the tractor is the same man who drives slowly along a country road helping me find ones to photograph.
This man is amazing. He was diagnosed with systemic lupus 10 years ago and has fought it tooth and nail. I thought when we retired 3 years ago that he was going to also. No, he said he wanted to keep working. With his career of appliance repair he still tries to accomplish a few calls a day. He likes the challenge, keeping up with his trade, the contact with the outside world, and he truly loves solving a problem and working with his hands. I could go on and on but well, my point is, he's having an awful hard time right now. Much of the time the doctor would have him in the hospital but he feels better at home, resting as he needs to. I love him, it's hard right now. God bless you, Diane

Diane, your husband sounds like a wonderful person and here you are giving so many of us your support and we never knew what you are going through. My husband is past retirement age but continues to work so we will be covered by the extra insurance during this time. He also loves his work and it gives him something to do but is always there for me when I need him. These guys are fantastic and we are so lucky to have them in our lives.
We are always here for you Diane just as you are for us.
Bless you!
Hugs
Jill.

Oh Diane, I had no idea that Leonard was sick... You have such an incredible attitude about life --and I admire that in your so much. I would never have known that you were carrying such a burden.

I also admire Leonard--since he still wants to work when he can. What a fabulous attitude.. If anything will keep him going, it's his attitude.

My sweet father-in-law used to repair small appliances. He read and studied and started that career (out of his home) AFTER he retired from his real job. People loved him and counted on him to fix their washing machines, etc. He was honest and fair --and people remember that about him. He did it as long as he could..

God Bless both of you.. I appreciate you telling us so that we can add Leanard (and you) in our prayers.

Lots of HUGS,
Betsy

Hi Diane,
What a gem of a guy, and I'm sorry to hear of his illness. I applaud his decision to keep working, no matter how few calls he makes per day... it is important for him to feel relevant and to keep his body moving. He's a smart one, that hubby of yours! Trust me, if he stops working all together, he won't be happy and his health would really decline. You are fortunate to have such a loving partner, and I have a feeling you deserve everything he gives you! xoxo
PS: Thank you SO much for your continued support and encouragement... the comments you leave me mean so much to me. God bless YOU!

Leonard... be brave, be strong, be faithful and know God's hands hold you up when you are down.

I too suffer from lupus. Eight years of pain, sickness, fatigue and so much more. I was told I was depressed and had "housewives disease". I have fired more doctors than i've kept. I found a keeper. After $8000.00 worth of blood work and a solid history, I was just diagnosed 4 months ago. i was ready to give up.

It's very scary and yet comforting to know what I have. I am rambling, i'm sorry. I know how you must be feeling my dear. I see my hubs carry the weight of the world some days when i'm not able. He knows you love him. He does. My heart goes out to you.
