Candlemas Day

Candlemas Day is a sweet old fashioned custom, so much so that in my family it was completely forgotten. I think it should be practiced and remembered. It's nice to remember where we came from when people did light their way with candles and brighten up the dark corners of their homes. Candles once were a necessity, not a frill, like today.
I think maybe there was a generation or two that was just glad to get rid of the old candles and kerosene lamps when they had this new thing called electricity.
It almost got away from me this year but next year I'm going to mark my calender and make a special point of it. I'm going to light my home with candles for one hour even though I will probably hear a lot of grumbling and complaining. Until then, I'm going to use my candles more anyway. I have some wonderful beeswax candles that smell heavenly when they're burning.
God bless you, Diane

Diane, I'd forgotten about Candlemas until someone else blogged about it today. It is so neat. I like candles also--but don't light them as much as I used to. Need to take more time!!!!

Thanks for the great reminder.
Hugs,
Betsy

How nice that there is such a day for candles. They have so many uses. Tonight I actually lit one online in memory of 3 online people that have lost there battle with cancer this past week.
Take care Diane and I hope to post in the next day or so....getting a bit better but still severely burnt.
Hugs
Jill.

It's a great custom isn't it Diane? I'm going to make a point of it also from now on, I had forgotten all about it after a couple years not doing my Simple Abundance. We'll be sure to be on it next year yeah?
